1970 @ SIWS a reunion

These photographs from good
old school days inspired a few of us to try and get together as many as
possible of old friends and classmates. It was a task to reach many, who now live in different parts of the world. Forty years is indeed a long way since we passed out of school and getting together was a great idea!

Try and spot yourself in this pic!! ----------------------->

We started with the boys and a few met in July 2009 and followed it up with another meeting in August when we decided to get more of our friends to meet in Mumbai.

Matunga Gymkhana was our meeting
centre , thanks to T V Ramani ,
over dinner we discussed various ways to get as many of us meet together.

We decided to meet at our school and relive the nostalgic memories of an era gone by....

What a better day than 14 November- Children's day - to relive our childhood memories ??

Time was short to reach all the girls * Ladies whose contact information was not available..even the boys * Gentlemen now living in different parts of the world.... Nevertheless we wanted to make a beginning and we reached almost a quarter of the about 200 ...40 of our batchmates confirmed their presence at this meet and Lo ! they were there........

These men made it to the camera !!!! Some were late... you will find them in the other pics :)

Men in their fifties yet very young at heart so happy to be with school friends...

Hats off to the guys who flew in for just the evening all the way from Bahrain and Dubai... and to Ramesh Sivam for making it all the way from England..

Hey!!! They Still fit into those school benches

Exchanging notes after several years........

Men assembled in the classroom hearing their batchmates speak of their journey since they passed out of the school...

It was all smiles and happy memories

M R Subramanian set the ball rolling and called each one present to tell their story since 1970.

P V Hariharan presently a member of the SIWS Managing Committee briefed those present about the growth that had taken place during the last 40 years and how SIWS now provides education from kindergarden to Post graduate level all in one campus...He reminded those present that SIWS was commemorating its Platinum Jubilee during 2009

Star of the evening.... LE was punished "stand up on the bench" for having taken great pains to bring us together , this evening

Dr Venkatesh , secretary of SIWS happened to be there and he spent a few minutes explaining what the society had achieved during the last four decades and what plans they had for the future..We presented a wall clock to the society which he gladly accepted and put up at the main foyer of the school building.

U.Shekar in his hilarious style entertained the meet with a nostalgic MGR number and followed it up with some witty anecdotes from the school days..

V Ramakrishnan - was sorry to have been caught in a traffic snarl and missing the photo session

N S Mohan enetertained with a tamil hit number of the 60s

L E Balasubramanian, the main force behind getting us together for the meet sharing his thoughts
KC Chandrasekhar spoke about his varied experience in different fields and how circumstances forced him to get qualified as CA, Lawyer and so on. He rendered a Rafi number with great ease..

Vijayaraghavan , now known as Vijayan Unni , a great Ayyappa devotee , made it to the meet in the midst of the annual Sastha Preethi conducted by his family.. He spend some time with friends and invited all those present for the function the next day..

V Vijayakumar ,dearly known as Amman at school, a vocational trainer now , apart from offering his services to help friends and students from SIWS to be trained, retraced some of his vivid memories of Nambiar sir...

A P Suryanarayanan, who was late reaching the school due to a delayed flight , was happy that
Krishnamurthy sir was not present there to punish him for the late arrival...

There was a surprise before we dispersed... in appreciation of the great effort by LE for the nice evening we had just enjoyed due to his hard work, he was presented a momento...

Vivekanandan who now lives with his family in New York ,USA could not make it to the meet..Nevertheless he called on phone and spoke with a few present there and organised to give a Cadbury's Milk chocolate to each one present .. Thanks to him for that gesture... reminding us of our birthdays while at school

You must pardon ..... this is not a full coverage of the reunion meet... have covered those whose photographs are available..... will soon put up a complete list of participants and the contact coordinates... and seek your help to get every one alive from our batch, on that list....

We had a very nice dinner thereafter and loads of sweet memories of an era gone by....
The clock we presented was already in place when we came into the foyer after the meet.
